APC Sweeps The Board In Latest LG Election
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission has officially announced that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in all 17 chairmanship seats and 178 councillor positions in the recently concluded local government elections.
The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Mamman Mohammed, declared the winners following the collation of all results, highlighting that although other political parties participated, none were successful at any level.
Governor Buni, speaking during his voting process in his hometown, emphasized that his objective upon assuming office in 2019 was to grant autonomy to Local Government Areas. He also indicated that he supports the federal government’s proposal to grant autonomy to local governments.
“I am not opposed to local government autonomy. When I assumed office in 2019, my vision was to grant autonomy to local governments.
“Unfortunately, about 6 out of the 17 local government areas can’t even pay their salaries, so the wisdom behind this joint account is to complement the efforts of the local governments with the state,” he said.
