EKO HOT BLOG reports that Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, has delivered a significant victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his polling unit of Oke Balogun ward 004, Epe I constituency.
The result of the election showed that Dr. Abiodun Tobun, the APC representative for the House of Assembly, won with a landslide victory against the opposition parties – the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the APC polled 215 votes for Tobun in Hamzat’s polling ward. In contrast, the Labour Party registered only 3 votes, and the PDP had 10 votes.
Four votes were deemed void in the ward.
The result confirmed Hamzat’s confidence in pulling off a victory for the APC in his polling unit.
In Tobun’s unit, the APC garnered 87 votes, securing the majority of the votes, with the PDP polling 8 votes, and the Labour Party registering just 1 vote in the House of Assembly elections. The APC also won the governorship election in Tobun’s polling unit with 87 votes, while the PDP got 9 votes.
The election and results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Epe constituency I were described as free and fair by observers.
Hamzat and Tobun’s massive victory for the APC in their polling units is a significant boost for the party’s re-election bid in Lagos State.
Elsewhere in Epe, in Epe Constituency II, Sylvester Ogunkelu, popularly called (Sketel), delivered also for the APC in the House of Assembly and gubernatorial elections, with Sketel winning his bid for the House of Assembly seat in the constituency.
The APC is hoping to retain power in the state, and victories such as this could help to solidify their position in Lagos State.
