The announcement was made on Monday by Alhaji Aliyu Suleiman, chairman of the Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission. The elections took place last Saturday, with participation from 15 political parties; notably, the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), chose not to participate in the electoral process.

Following the declaration of results, the victorious candidates received their certificates of return, officially recognizing them as elected officials. The newly elected chairmen are scheduled to be sworn in by Governor Ahmed Aliyu today at 4 PM.
In a related development, the APC also achieved success in the Kwara State local government elections, outperforming the PDP and other competing parties.
The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) reported that the APC dominated across all 16 council areas, marking a significant return to local governance after a seven-year hiatus.
The local government election in Kwara State featured competition from the APC, PDP, Social Democratic Party (SDP), Accord Party, and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) across 16 council areas and 193 wards. This marked the first local government elections in Kwara State in seven years.
