The APM Campaign Director General, Sarafa Ishola alleged that the election, which began peacefully on Saturday, was allegedly hijacked by hoodlums and “unidentified uniform men” during the collation stage.
Ishola said this at the party’s secretariat at Leme, Abeokuta, addfing that results of the election were manipulated in favour of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He said APM had petitioned INEC in the state to investigate the “infractions” and stop announcement of results forthwith.
The DG expressed concern that despite the complaints, the INEC had started announcing the results.
Ishola said the APM rejects the results as being announced, declaring that “it was hijacked, compromised and did not reflect the wishes of Ogun people. The people of Ogun state have been raped,” Akinlade declared, saying all legal means to undo the alleged injustice.
…INEC officials held hostage in Ogun – REC
Meanwhile, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Ogun State, Ganiu Raji, has raised an alarm that officials of INEC are being held hostage in one of the local government areas of the state.
The REC said this during the ongoing results’ announcement at the commission’s headquarters in Magbon area of the state. He, however, did not mention the name of the affected local government, just as he appealed for peace as the results come in.
Raji said: “Let us allow peace to reign. Party agents and leaders, as well as media should know that cancellation of results will not be done here, but at the collation centre.
“Results of voting are done at polling unit level, collation and entering of results done at polling unit level. So, any party that has issues should have done that at the polling units level.
“The second level is collation centres. If you have any issues with any results go to tribunal, we can only make available required documents needed, it is now left for the tribunal to judge. I am appealing that let us allow peace to reign. Party agents should pass the message to their leaders. It is more dignifying to go to tribunal rather than subjecting our officials to mental torture.”
