Apologise For Comments Against Udom, A’Ibom Youths Charge Sowore

A group, the Akwa Ibom Concerned Youths, have expressed disappointment over comments credited to Omoyele Sowore that Governor Udom Emmanuel influenced the suspension of a student of the state university.
The student, Iniobong Ekpo, was suspended over a Facebook comment in which he criticised Udom’s administration.
In a statement issued by the President, Young Democratic Movement, Kuseme Idiong and Speaker, South-South Youth Assembly, Victor Thompson in Uyo, the group accused Sowore of blackmailing the governor, insisting that he (Sowore) should apologise to Governor Udom.
They noted that although the Akwa Ibom State University was state-owned, every institution of higher learning was run by a Governing Council or the Senate and also governed by rules and regulations.
“The fact that he directly links Governor Udom Emmanuel to whatever happened in the institution, is a direct testimony to the fact that he is a confirmed case of schizophrenia and should not be taken seriously.

“Academic certificates are issued to those who are found worthy in character and in learning, little wonder Sowore was twice expelled, because he lacked character and learning,” the statement reads.
The group maintained that Governor Udom had devoted a greater part of his career in one of Nigeria’s biggest banks to the progress of Akwa Ibom State and would not accept any form of blackmail against the governor.
“Sowore should be reminded that Akwa Ibom is not Lagos. Akwa Ibom youths, therefore, demand an unreserved public apology from Sowore within seven days,” the statement added.
