The PDP leaders affected by the initial ruling were former National Chairman Uche Secondus, former Rivers State Governor Celestine Omehia, and former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Austin Opara.
In three separate unanimous judgments delivered on Friday, a three-member panel of the Court of Appeal upheld the appeals filed by Secondus, Omehia, and Opara, ruling that the Federal High Court lacked the jurisdiction to decide the matter.
The appellate court ruled that issues regarding attendance at political party meetings or involvement in internal party activities are exclusively within the party’s purview and are not matters for judicial consideration.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the court further stated that the Federal High Court should not have entertained these cases, stressing that issues related to the internal affairs of a political party are not subject to judicial intervention.
Additionally, the Court of Appeal declared the proceedings conducted in the Federal High Court, including the restraining orders issued ex-parte by Justice Ekwo on April 5, null and void.
