EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Interior Minister has reacted to the outcomes of the governorship election in Osun State.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Ademola Adeleke was named the Governor-Elect of the Osun State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.
At the voting poll on Saturday, Adeleke defeated Gboyega Oyetola, the incumbent governor and the candidate of the ruling party,All Progressives Congress (APC)
In the Osun State governorship election, the PDP candidate prevailed in 17 of the 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Results from the remaining 13 LGAs were won by APC candidate Oyetola, according to INEC’s announcement on Sunday morning.
Oyetola of the APC polled 375,027 votes overall, while Adeleke of the PDP garnered 403,371.
By a margin of around 28,244 votes, Adeleke, a former senator and the younger brother of the state’s first governor, Isiaka Adeleke, defeated Oyetola.
Reacting to APC and Oyetola’s loss, Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State, quoted a Bible verse, saying “the Most High ruleth in the affiars of men…”

Aregbesola has been in a long running battle with Oyetola before the election. He did not campaign for the incumbent governor nor participate in the Saturday election.
