Despite reports of frosty relationship between them, Former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has commended his successor, Gboyega Oyetola over his management of the state affairs.
In a letter to Oyetola on his second year anniversary in office, Aregbesola admonished the governor to always put the people on the front burner of the state affairs.
Aregbesola recalled the “hard-fought battle” of his election which culminated in the continuation of progressive administration in Osun.
He said despite the economic downturn occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, the governor has been able to keep the ship of the state afloat on troubled water.
“These are heightened political participation, the pressure to deliver more dividends of democracy, and increased demands from the political system. I have no doubt that you will cope nicely.

“Please continue to make the welfare of the people your biggest concern. They are the reason for the state. Without them, there will be no government or political office to occupy.”
Oyetola, Aregbesola’s ex-Chief of Staff, was elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform in 2018.
There are speculations that the minister and the governor are not on good terms, a situation many believe is responsible for the reversal of some of Aregbesola policy by the governor.
