  • For some period of time now, traders in the North have refused to allow the influx of goods from their region to the South
  • Over claims they are not happy with the way their people are being treated there.
  • The Amalgamated Union of Foodstuffs and Cattle Dealers had vowed to stop the transport of food from the North to the South.

Reacting on Tuesday, the National Chairman of Arewa consultative forum, Audu Ogbeh warned Miyetti Allah that such a decision can complicate the Economic and Political state of the country.

It is no longer news that Northerners have begun the diversion of Food items to neighbouring Niger Republic and Cameroon.

As at last Friday, foodstuff and cattle dealers across the Northern part of the country have started diverting their goods and all consumables to the neigbouring countries of Niger Republic and Cameroon.

This is coming after the umbrella body for cattle breeders in Nigeria, Miyetti Allah said that the North would not supply food stuffs to the South until the safety of all Fulanis are safe and guaranteed.

EKO HOT BLOG could recall that there have been tension around Nigeria following the incessant clashes between farmers and nomadic herdsmen, with farmers accusing the herdsmen of destroying their crops while committing all manner of artrocitities in their communities.

Also, the North have also begun blocking trade routes to the South by stopping food item-laden trucks from going south.

The debate around this current situation have been centered around whether the South can survive without food stuffs and consumables from the North.

Audu Ogbeh said there’s is no need to mount a blockade by one section of the country against the other noting that whatever the differences might be, all issues should be settled amicably and food should be allowed to flow in.
