It was a day of mixed feelings as family and friends converged at Atan cemetery and Lagos NUT house to bid eternal farewell to the matriarch of Ariba’s family, Mrs Mrs Margaret Olufunmilayo.
The event was tinged with a twin note of delight and despair. Delight, on the one hand, in the sense that Mrs Margaret lived a wonderful, purposeful and illustrious life and to have live for over eight decades in Nigeria in a fine fashion is not a mean feat. Despair, on the other hand, as the realisation of departing from a loved one forever, never to be seen again, except maybe in dreams, began to set in for the ones the octogenarian left behind.
Mrs Olufunmilayo died on September 26th 2020 at the age of 83. She was interred at the Atan cemetery today, 13th October 2020.
There was strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols and health guidelines throughout the burial arrangement, from the solemn church services to the sordid internment and boisterous reception.
