EKO HOT BLOG reports that security presence at the Assembly, which had been significant for the past two weeks, was further reinforced as early as 7 a.m., with operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and armed personnel from the Lagos State Police Command strategically positioned around the premises.
Visitors, including staff members, were subjected to thorough security screenings before being allowed entry.
Reports indicate that the increased security measures were put in place due to an anticipated leadership change in the House, as Speaker Mojisola Meranda was expected to tender her resignation to facilitate the emergence of a new Speaker in line with a political zoning arrangement.
A staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the atmosphere within the complex as tense. “It was difficult for staff to gain access this morning. I was delayed for over an hour before I was finally allowed in,” the source told journalist.
Following weeks of political maneuvering, it was learned that President Bola Tinubu and top members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) reached a resolution over the crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly during the weekend.
Reports suggest that as part of the agreement, embattled Speaker Mudashiru Obasa will step down voluntarily, effectively converting his removal into a resignation.
Sources from the Presidential Villa disclosed that Tinubu was consulted on the matter by key APC leaders, including former National Chairman Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba, Minister of Solid Minerals Dele Alake, and a former Lagos commissioner.

The crisis at the Lagos Assembly has been a subject of intense political negotiations, and with the latest developments, the next few days are expected to be crucial in determining the future leadership of the House.
