Armed robbers in ‘police uniform’ has raided Osun bank and carted away money.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that some yet-to-be-identified armed robbers in police uniform have invaded Ifelodun Microfinance Bank via Thursday Market in Ikirun town.
The armed robbers who invaded the bank on Tuesday around 2am, reportedly breached the security of the Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the armed robbers engaged some security men in a gun duel before fleeing with an undisclosed money that they carted away from the Automated Teller Machine.
A security source in the community said: “Armed robbers in their scores invaded the bank there scores dressed in police uniform to breach the security.

“One of the local hunters that were guarding the bank was overpowered and tied while the other escaped the premises of the bank to call for reinforcement.
“Before police arrived the scene they had already broken into the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in the bank and carted away money. They were unable to access the banking hall.”
The robbers, according to Adigun Daniel, spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun State Command, could not access the microfinance bank but damaged a Wema Bank’s ATM and carted away some.
“Unidentified robbers attacked Ifelodun Microfinance Bank with Wema Bank ATM machine, located at Thursday Market, along Oke-Aafo and robbed the ATM at about 2:15am on 30th November, 2021,” Daniel said.
The Command’s spokesman said that there was no casualty in the robbery attack.
A resident of the area (name withheld), who claimed he witnessed the robbery attack, said that the robbers arrived at the bank premises in police uniform, and tied the two security men guiding the bank.
It was gathered that a bullion van was sighted within the Ifelodun Microfinancial Bank premises on Monday.
Recall that three new generation banks in the town were robbed recently.
The affected banks had ceased to resume operations ever since.
Osun Police spokesman SP Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident.
She said: “The CP Olawale Olokode has visited the scene but I have not been properly briefed.”
