One of the old students present at the exercise, Jembi Nasrat has this to said “We have come here today to give back to Alma mata after some of us have come here to make findings about what the school needs. As the saying goes, you need to appreciate the hands that raised you. We feel the invaluable impact of Army Junior and Senior High School in our lives. So we think it is a good thing to give a token back to the school.

” With God, collective effort and teamwork, we were able to conquer the challenges to achieve this. We want upcoming students to emulate the good gesture. I strongly believe that at the end of this, one or two students from the school will also have this kind of mindset to do same. This gesture will also spur other sets of the Old Students Association to do more”, she said.

Speaking further, Jembi noted that the growth and development of education can’t be perceived as the exclusive responsibility of government alone, stressing that there must collective efforts from all stakeholders starting from the grassroots, however, however implored the leadership of Parents Teachers Association ( PTA ) to judiciously manage funds generated to support schools in erecting buildings since having furniture without school buildings are to no end.

” Education generally is an ambiguous concept that I feel saddened whenever I think along that direction. I think collectively we can make it work. If we are limiting the upliftment of schools to government alone, then we will be lying. What I think from the grassroot as a parent and concerned stakeholder is that whenever our children gets admitted, we should at least bring a piece of furniture, textbooks and other learning materials. Secondly, the P.T.A levies collected can also be used in erecting school buildings because there are no need for furnitures without adequate classrooms”, said.

Reacting to the development, both Principals of the schools, Mr Aboderin J.A ( Senior School ) and Mrs Anwo E.O (Junior) applauded the unflinching support of the old students towards the upliftment of the school.

They further described the initiative of members of the 2003 set as a timely intervention which will go a long way in impacting the lives of hundreds of children. The Senior Prefect of the school, Lucky  immensely appreciated members of the 2003 set for their invaluable support towards the school.

In what seem like reminiscing and nostalgic feeling, the old students took a tour round the school sharing their high school memories with one another. Some of them also spared little time to engage in sporting activities with the students.
