Troops of the Nigeria Army 401 Special Forces (SF) Brigade have successfully rescued 8 kidnapped passengers in Benue State.
Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 401 Special Forces Brigade, Captain Abdullahi Lawal Osabo, in a statement pasted on its Instagram and DAPR platform on Friday evening said
the operation was conducted, following credible intelligence on an incident of kidnapping along Zaki Biam – Tine Nune road, Ukum LGA.
“Troops swiftly mobilized to the scene and rescued a Hiace Bus, belonging to Taraba Express International with Reg No KLD – 543XA, travelling from Onitsha to Jalingo with 10 passengers, including the driver.
“On arrival at the scene, weary that troops were closing up on them, the criminal elements absconded with two passengers, while 8 others were rescued successfully.” the statement said.
According to the statement, in a follow-up operation, troops are combing the general area to ensure the other two passengers are rescued.
“The 8 rescued victims are a good condition as efforts are ongoing to hand them over to the relevant authority.” it said.
