EKO HOT BLOG reports that former Arsenal player and legend, Ian Wright, has highlighted Gabriel Martinelli as the Gunners star that will benefit when Gabriel Jesus returns from injury.
Wright believes that Jesus’ return will fire up Martinelli, and the 21-year-old will score more goals for Arsenal. Gabriel Jesus has not played for Arsenal in 2023 after sustaining a knee injury during Brazil’s 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar.
However, he has been spotted training this week, indicating that he is close to making a return.
Wright believes that Jesus’ return can help Martinelli rediscover his best form, as the young Brazilian has been struggling to find the back of the net in recent matches.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Wright said,
“Arsenal is straining every sinew right now to stay in front [of Manchester City]. Yes, we’ve [Gabriel] Jesus coming back, which will then hopefully fire up [Gabriel] Martinelli even more because our left-hand side has missed Jesus. Jesus would interchange with Martinelli, and he would get inside and we would get a little bit more going on our left side.”
Arsenal has been struggling to keep up with their rivals in the Premier League this season, with the Gunners currently sitting in fifth place in the league table. Wright’s comments highlight the importance of having a strong attacking presence, particularly with the return of Gabriel Jesus.
The Brazilian striker has been a key player for Manchester City in recent seasons, and his return will undoubtedly boost Arsenal’s attacking options.
Gabriel Martinelli has shown promise since joining Arsenal in 2019, but his progress has been hampered by injuries. However, with the return of Gabriel Jesus, Wright believes that Martinelli will have the opportunity to showcase his skills and score more goals for the Gunners.
Arsenal will be hoping that the Brazilian duo can link up effectively and help the team climb up the Premier League table in the remaining matches of the season.
