EKO HOT BLOG reports that former Arsenal player Martin Keown has claimed that Arsenal played a role in Tottenham’s decision to sack manager Antonio Conte on Sunday. Conte joined the North London side in November 2021, but his tenure was short-lived. Prior to his dismissal, Spurs suffered several setbacks, including being knocked out of the FA Cup by Sheffield United and exiting the Champions League to AC Milan in the round of sixteen. In the Premier League, they blew a two-goal lead against bottom-club Southampton.

“I think they should have kept him until the end of the season, no doubt,” Keown said on talkSPORT. “I think Arsenal have played a part. The fact that Arsenal are 20 points clear of Spurs and this time last year they were both in the run-in for the top-four places puts Spurs under enormous pressure.”
