EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Gunners secured a historic 2-1 victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday night, April 16, sealing their place in the final four of the tournament. They will now meet PSG, whom they previously defeated 2-0 in the group stage at the Emirates, courtesy of goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.
Speaking after the win over Madrid, Arteta acknowledged the strength of the French giants, who have knocked out two Premier League clubs—Liverpool and Aston Villa—on their path to the semi-finals.
“I watched their game against Villa last night. It was a thrilling match,” Arteta said. “In this competition, anything can happen. PSG are an exceptional team with a top-class manager. Tonight, we celebrate, but we know the challenge ahead is different and very real.”
He added that while Arsenal’s earlier win against PSG gives them some insight, they cannot afford to underestimate the French champions. “They are on a fantastic run and have become a much stronger team. Still, our performance tonight proves we are capable of competing at the highest level,” he said.
Arteta reaffirmed his ambition of leading Arsenal to the final. “We are determined to go all the way. It will take focus, discipline, and belief, but this team has what it takes.”
Midfielder Declan Rice, who earned man of the match honours in both legs against Real Madrid, praised Arteta’s leadership. “We have complete trust in our coach, Mikel Arteta. He’s unbelievable,” Rice said after the game.
