With the death toll climbing to 25, including innocent children, the community leader, Elias Atabor, has issued a desperate plea to the government for immediate action.
In an emotional interview, Atabor highlighted the urgent need for a military presence in Omala Local Government Area to combat the relentless onslaught of bandits.
He paints a grim picture of the community’s vulnerability, citing Thursday’s kogi attack as the second deadly incident in less than three months.
“We can’t continue dying like fowls in our own community,” Atabor laments.
“Agojeju-Odo is our ancestral home, and we have nowhere else to turn to.”
The gravity of the situation is palpable as Atabor describes the anguish of families searching for missing loved ones and the grim task of discovering more corpses.
He underscores the severity of the threat posed by heavily armed bandits and implores the government to intervene before it’s too late.
Consequently, the government must heed Atabor’s call for a military base in the area to ensure the safety and security of vulnerable communities against kogi attack.
Swift and decisive action is needed to stem the tide of violence and prevent further loss of life. Kogi cannot be allowed to be another hotbed for bandits.
Therefore, it is imperative that the authorities prioritize the protection of citizens and take proactive measures to address the root causes of insecurity in the region.
