Eko Hot Blog reports that in a recent interview, gospel musician and band leader Sensational Bamidele discussed his career, his relationship with former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, and his thoughts on politics.
Bamidele, who is known for his popular song “As e dey Pain them, E dey Sweet Us,” said that he was born a musician and that his decision to start making gospel music was inspired by his faith. He also said that he was honored to have been appointed as a councilor by Wike, but that he did not support him because he expected anything in return.
“I chose to support Wike, not because I knew he was going to make me a councilor, but probably because Amaechi’s government did not favor me,” Bamidele said.
He also denied claims that he had been contracted to perform only for Wike, saying that he had played for politicians from all parties.
“I have been approached by political groups, and I have gone to their meetings, because I am a musician,” Bamidele said. “I have played for the Minister of Petroleum, Timipre Sylva. I have also played for other governors and influential politicians from different parties, including the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, and the Social Democratic Party of Nigeria.”
Bamidele also said that he would not rule out a career in politics in the future.
“If I have the opportunity to, I would give it a shot,” he said.
