Asaba 2023: Team Lagos Wins Gold Medals In Male & Female Table Tennis

Eko Hot Blog reports that Team Lagos has made an impressive start to its campaign at the National Youth Games, Asaba 2023.

The games started on Saturday in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

On Monday, the male and female table tennis camps of Team Lagos secured gold medals, trouncing their counterparts from Delta, the host state.

In the female category, Musbau Faizat and her partner Rabiu Aishat, walloped the girls from Team Delta with a 3-0 scoreline.

On the other, the duo of Adebakin Tobi and Sodiq Adesanya prevailed upon their Delta counterparts with a 3-1 victory, securing victory for the male’s team.

Meanwhile, there was further success for Team Lagos in Boxing.

Mayowa Ayomide of Team Lagos knocked out her Ekiti counterpart as she won her bout of 44kg.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared the games open last Saturday.

Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, was joined by the host governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and other top government officials of Delta State.

He urged the participating athletes drawn from across the states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to play by the rules and uphold the tenets of the games as envisioned by its founding fathers.
