- Asaba Mob Attack FRSC Officer For Pushing Driver From A Moving Truck
A Federal Road Safety Corps Officer, Delta State Command, Mr C. U. Mgbede, narrowly escaped death on Thursday August 27, after an angry mob in Benin-Asaba Expressway, Asaba. almost killed him for allegedly pushing a truck driver out of a moving vehicle.
Mgbede was said to have jumped into the truck and allegedly pushed down the driver after efforts to take over the steering failed.
According to Punch, the driver was finding it hard to breath, after he landed forcefully on the road, which attracted the mob who attacked the FRSC officer.
The officer and the driver was later taken to a federal medical center for treatment after the FRSC team arrived at the scene. Meanwhile, the FRSC Sector Commander, Delta State, Mr Alphonsus Godwin, has denied that the officer pushed the driver out of the moving truck.
He said, “The man was asked to stop at the checkpoint, because he was not using the seatbelt; rather than stopping, he moved ahead and the marshal jumped into the vehicle and took control of the steering wheel.

He stopped the vehicle immediately and was trying to impound the vehicle when the mob stormed the scene and beat the officer to a pulp.
“Before our response team got to the scene, the mob had brutalised the officer; our men carried the two of them, who were laying on the ground, to the FMC, Asaba. This is one of the challenges we are facing on the job when vehicle owners try to resist arrest.”
