EKO HOT BLOG reports that the fast-rising Nigerian pop star, Ahmed Ololade, professionally known as Asake, has paid an emotional tribute to those who died during a stampede at his concert in London.
This online media platform recalls that the 27-year-singer’s concert turned chaotic on the night of Thursday 15th December, leaving eight people injured and two women Rebecca Ikumelo aged 33 and Gabriella Hutchinson, 23, dead.
Lambeth Police confirmed that many people were seriously injured and some were hospitalised after a large crowd tried to get into Brixton O2 Academy without tickets to watch Asake perform.
During his performance at the Flytime concert in Lagos on Thursday, Asake paused the show to pay tribute to the two lives that were lost as a result of the chaos.
“Inside of me, I feel pained for them. May their soul rest on peace. But before we go I just want to us to observe a minute silence for them, those who lost their lives in London. We love them, may God be with them,” the singer said.
The Metropolitan Police disclosed that a third woman, 21, who was still receiving treatment, was in critical condition.
