- ASHA Bank launches Clean-a- Market initiative
- The initiative focuses on environmental hygiene and sanitation
- Residents receive medical treatments and donations
As part of its corporate social responsibilities, Asha Microfinance Bank held a medical outreach initiative, Clean-a- Market in Oyigbo market offering free health consultations and treatments to traders.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the outreach was held on Thursday at the market square as residents were tested for blood pressure, sugar levels and others.

The program did not only involve medical services but also waste removal by the bank staff and members of the market.
At the event, the Chief Executive Officer of ASHA, Funmilola Paseda admitted that the program is to encourage public sanitation, raise health awareness and boost active participation from members of the market.
She also described that part of their initiative is the Clean-a-Market campaign which involved offering medical services to the traders such as the blood pressure check, temperature monitoring, and cleaning the market.
The CEO in her statement said, ” We are a bank as you know, and we support women’s empowerment. We encourage and promote financial inclusion. We also create time to support our environment.
“We are here to support with cleaning the environment, with sweeping as you have seen us do since morning ”
” Apart from that, we are also here to help the traders look at the status of their health, she stated”
“We have also provided what we call a borehole system to major communities where we can operate, so they will have access to clean water” Paseda added
The CEO also stated that in addition to showing concern for the traders, the bank also offered loan services to support them.
One of the beneficiaries who identified herself as Dasola appreciated the bank for their efforts noting that the initiative encouraged them to maintain cleanliness in the market
She said ” they have come to help us in the market. They’re trying, it is nice and we’re happy. We, the traders clean the market every morning before sales, but today they’ve helped us make it more cleaner. With their donations, our market will be more cleaner.
The notable moment of the program was the donation of brooms, aprons, and umbrella stands to traders.
