EDITOR’S PICK:

EKO HOT BLOG reports that a popular Epe Businessman, Asiwaju Agbomeji, has tasked political leaders and stakeholders in Epe local government with effective leadership and development of the community.

He made the call in a Thanksgiving program he organised over the weekend at Oloja Estate, Agric Epe.

Speaking during his opening remarks, the reputable building contractor praised God for the success and peaceful organisation of the Federal and State Constituency Primary Elections in Epe which he said wasn’t comparable to tragedies recorded in other areas.

While Asiwaju Agbomeji commended the people of Epe for choosing the path of peace, he, however, expressed concerns over the slow pace of development in the town which he said was in contrast to the situation in the last six years when there was rapid socio-economic advancement of the people.

Speaking further, he said: “I decided to put this gathering together not for personal gains but for the genuine love, passion and concerns I have towards the Epe community”

“I want to use this medium to passionately appeal to our political gladiators, juggernauts, the old and young, to double their efforts in their service delivery to the people of Epe.

“Particularly, our political leaders at the helms in Epe, I appeal to them to always encourage their political godsons to do more to uplift the community rather than expending the people’s resources on business establishments outside Epe.”

In his goodwill message, Dr MA Shittu, former Acting Deputy Provost of MOCPED now Lagos State University of Education, Michael Otedola Campus, urged all political office holders, leaders and stakeholders to consider a deep reflection on the state of the Epe community.

The Muslim Cleric cum Academician who preached to the gathering quoted lessons and teachings from Quran 103 vs 1-3, where he urged the political, religious, traditional and leaders of thought in the town to be united and resolute in moving the community forward.

“Honesty, bravery, wisdom and morality are the hallmarks of any political leader. They must entrench the truth while also exercising patience”

“Due to our dichotomy, it is therefore necessary for all our political elites in office to strike a balance between the two sides of the divide as a bias for either of the sides was counterproductive,” he said.

Earlier in the event, Hon Shakirulai Jagbojagbo, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ward A2 Epe, described Asiwaju Agbomeji as a worthy leader whose tremendous contributions to the growth of the party can not be brushed aside.

While he applauded Asiwaju Agbomeji on the bold initiative, he urged that party members should emulate him as he’s a charismatic and noble personality.
