President-elect Joe Biden says the invasion of capitol hill, a building housing the United States parliament, is against everything the country stands for.
Ekohotblog recalls hat a mob breached the Capitol police and invaded the premises of the legislative complex disrupting congress’ debate on certification of Biden’s victory.
They marched to the building not long after they were addressed by Trump who has constantly questioned the legitimacy of the November presidential election and has refused to concede after losing to Biden.
Reacting to the development, the president-elect said the incident was an assault on the country’s democracy, he called for preservation of democracy, saying it is a fragile thing.
“At this hour our democracy is under unprecedented assault unlike anything we’ve seen in modern times,” Biden said.
Biden said the “scenes of chaos” at the congress was not a reflection of America was known for and did not represent who the people were.

“I call on this mob to pull back and allow democracy to go forward. At their best the words of a president can inspire, at their worst they can incite.”
Biden implored Trump to go on national television to call the mob to order and demand “an end to this siege.”
