The union had on February 14 declared a one-month warning strike after the Federal Government failed to meet its demands.

Although the union has not made any public statement regarding the outcome of the meeting, Vanguard quoted a source as saying that members resolved at the meeting that the industrial action be extended for two more months.

The outcome of the meeting, according to the source, was being drafted to be released in a statement soon.

The demands include the revitalisation of public universities, earned academic allowances, University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS) promotion arrears, renegotiation of 2009 ASUU-FGN agreement and alleged inconsistencies in Integrated Payroll and Personnel information system (IPPIS) payments.

An ASUU official had disclosed earlier that there were no concrete offers from the government to convince the union to call off the strike.
