EKO HOT BLOG reports that results of votes from chapters of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on the suspension of the current strike action by the union have started surfacing.

The national leadership of ASUU had directed the branches in various university campuses to vote for the suspension or otherwise of the lingering strike action following recent negotiations with the government as brokered by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The lecturers, who are members of ASUU, have been on strike since February 14, 2022, but the president of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, has said the union can call off its industrial action in a few days.

Speaking during a meeting with the leadership of the House of Representatives in Abuja on Monday, ASUU President said the strike would come to an end soon.

Therefore, instruction was given for the branches to vote and a number of them have taken a stand as revealed in a Twitter thread by a popular Nigerian journalist, Deborah Tolu-Kolawole.
