The breakthrough came in first-half stoppage time when Lookman scored the opener.
Osimhen, who was substituted in during the second half, extended the lead with a brilliant volley in the 78th minute.
Lookman then sealed the win with his second goal just five minutes later.
Reacting to the match, Atalanta acknowledged Lookman’s brace on their X handle, posting his name alongside two football emojis to signify his two goals: “ADEM⚽️⚽️LA.”
Lookman will aim to continue his scoring form when the Eagles face Rwanda in Kigali on Tuesday, September 10, for their second qualifying match.
Recently, Lookman was also honorued with a nomination for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, standing as the only African player on the 30-man shortlist.
