Atiku Allies With 100 Witnesses In Presidential Tribunal
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has revealed plans to summon 100 witnesses to support his petition before the Presidential Election Petitions Court.
This approach diverges from the strategies of other involved parties, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) intending to call 22 witnesses, Bola Tinubu 39, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) 25.

The proposed modalities for the primary hearing of Abubakar’s petition, challenging the outcome of the presidential election held on February 25, outline the number of witnesses each party plans to present.
Additionally, it suggests granting more time, ranging from 20 to 30 minutes, for the examination of key witnesses and expert witnesses, some of whom will be subpoenaed to testify under oath.
Chris Uche (SAN), the lead counsel to Atiku Abubakar, stated that despite the law allowing for a period of seven weeks, they anticipate requiring only about three weeks to present their witnesses.
Uche explained that the issues at hand are narrower and predominantly constitutional, indicating that they would not require extensive time to determine. For instance, one of the focal points will be the issue of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Presidential Election Petitions Court has adjourned until Monday, May 22, to provide an update on the consolidation of modalities for the hearing of petitions from the three remaining political parties involved in the case.
The tribunal’s upcoming proceedings have heightened anticipation as Atiku Abubakar, with his extensive list of witnesses, seeks to make his case before the court.
The involvement of a substantial number of witnesses underscores the significance of the petition and reflects the determination of the PDP candidate to challenge the election results.
