Atiku Abubakar Congratulates Wizkid, Burna Boy on Grammy award Win

Former Nigeria Vice President Atiku Abubakar has sent his felicitations to Nigerian music icon Wizkid who bagged his first-ever Grammy award at the 63rd edition of the international ceremony on Sunday.
The 30-year-old Afrobeat star won the award for Best Music video for his collaboration with Beyonce on the single ‘Brown Skin Girl’ which was featured in the American superstar’s curated soundtrack album, Lion King: The Gift Album.
The song was well received in Nigeria and further cemented Wizkid’s place not only as a local act but a global one with his collaboration with some of the biggest names in the world.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, Wizkid was not the only Nigerian to take home a Grammy with Burna Boy also making headlines with his award for Best Global Music Album for his ‘Twice as Tall’ Album.
He was nominated for the same category last year but lost out to African music icon Angelique Kidjo, an award which she dedicated to him.

Coldplay’s Album, ‘Everyday Life’ which had the input of Tiwa Savage, Femi Kuti and Made Kuti was nominated for Album of Year, but lost out to Taylor Swift’s ‘Folklore’.
The Grammy Award is traditionally held at Staples Centre in Los Angeles, but this year did not have any audience because of the coronavirus pandemic.
