Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, has departed Nigeria for a business trip to Europe, as announced by his media adviser.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, has departed Nigeria for a business trip to Europe. This information was disclosed on Wednesday in a statement by Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe.
The statement read: “Nigeria’s leading opposition figure and former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has embarked on a business trip to Europe.
The former Vice President departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, for his first port of call.
“He was accompanied to the airport by family members, friends, and associates.
“This morning, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar proceeded on a short foreign business trip. He will be back in the country soon.”
Meanwhile, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed concern over the growing influence of state governments in distorting the processes of enthroning traditional rulers. In a statement released on Tuesday via X, Abubakar highlighted the importance of traditional institutions in Nigeria’s governance structure and called for their protection from arbitrary state interference.
“Recent developments in the country have seen a growing tendency of state governments exerting influence in distorting the modalities of enthroning traditional stools,” Abubakar stated.
He acknowledged that while traditional rulership falls under state government purview, these institutions play a crucial role in governance and community stability. “And thus, traditional institutions must be protected from the arbitrariness of state governments that threaten their stability,” Atiku declared.
