Emeka Ezenwanne, commissioner for public utilities in Anambra State, who was kidnapped on Wednesday night has been released.
Recall that Ezenwanne was kidnapped by gunmen on Wednesday after an attack on All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship aspirant, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.
The gunmen had stormed the venue where an interactive session between the former central Bank governor and youths of his community, Isuofia, was taking place.
The gunmen killed three policemen, and whisked away the commissioner who had scaled the fence in attempt to escape, but ran into the gunmen.
DAILY POST reports that no ransom was paid to secure the release of the commissioner
“I just spoke to the commissioner now. He has been freed, and he is in good health too” the media outlet quoted a source who’s privy to development to have said.
“He denied paying any ransom, and also told me that his abductors did not maltreat him in anyway.”
Ezenwanne, who is among the youngest commissioners in the State, was released at about 1am on Easter day.
