Author Aisha Amdagas Unveils New Books at Borno Books and Arts Festival
On Friday, December 20th, the Borno State capital played host to an inspiring literary event as author Aisha Amdagas launched her latest books during the second Borno Books and Arts Festival (BOBAFEST24). The festival, which began in 2022, celebrates literature, culture, and art in northern Nigeria and has quickly become a prominent platform for showcasing local talent.
Aisha Amdagas, a proud daughter of Borno State, holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Maiduguri. Her diverse interests include creative writing, content creation, and a passion for psychology, which she hopes to study further at the postgraduate level. A voracious reader and a storyteller at heart, Aisha is deeply connected to Maiduguri—known locally as Yerwa—and is committed to telling its untold stories.

Her literary journey includes coauthoring the poetry anthology Seasons and Feelings (Malthouse, 2024) with the late Professor Abubakar Othman, a renowned academic and poet. Her latest release, Love In A Hot Climate, marks her debut as a novelist and adds to her growing portfolio as a versatile writer.
Although born in Borno, Aisha was raised in Abuja, where she attended Kubwa School of Islamic Studies for her primary education and Jewel Model Secondary School for her secondary education. She describes her upbringing as instrumental in shaping her love for storytelling.
Currently, Aisha is working on three new projects: Men of Yerwa, a collection of true short stories; The Moon and the Cross: An Interfaith Love Story, a fictional exploration of cultural and religious boundaries; and Love and Light, a poetry collection.
For those eager to dive into her works, Aisha’s books are currently available at Alhakeem Bookstore in Maiduguri and Lenzbookhub in Abuja, with nationwide delivery options. By January 2025, they will also be stocked in stores across Nigeria, making her stories more accessible to readers nationwide.
