A concerned youth movement known as Arise Nigerian Youths has taken to microblogging site Twitter, to reveal that Ifeoma Abugu, a corps member who died while in police custody, was strangulated.
Following an autopsy that was conducted on Ifeoma, the movement has it that the 28-year-old graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed.
Prior to her death, Eko Hot Blog gathered that three policemen on Thursday, September 10, 2020, around 5pm, stormed the residence of Ifeoma’s fiancé, Afam Ugwunwa, at Wumba village in the Lokogoma area of Abuja to arrest him. In absence of Ugwunwa, the policemen arrested Ifeoma and took her away.
Following her arrest, efforts to know the police station she was being taken to proved abortive as she was not found until Ugwunwa got a call the next day that Ifeoma had died and her corpse had been deposited in the morgue.
As a way to recognise the cause of her death, an autopsy, which is a surgical procedure that consists of a thorough examination of a corpse revealed that Abugu’s private parts were disfigured.
The group, therefore, has called on all concerned Nigerians to join in the fight to get justice for Abugu.
“Do you remember Miss Ifeoma Abugu of Abuja NYSC who was killed by Police in Sept 2020?

“The recent autopsy report revealed she died of strangulation and her private parts were heavily mutilated too, by the police. Please retweet as we seek justice for Ifeoma.
“Last year, in defence to cover this sinister act, the Abuja Police HQ released a statement saying she died of drug abuse but the autopsy reported the opposite. Ifeoma will not die in vain.
“The judicial panel has ordered the police to release her remains for final interment. We are calling on Nigerians to join us in seeking justice for her please.”
