Awoniyi’s Debut Home Goal Ends N’Forest’s 23-Year Wait For EPL Victory

Awoniyi’s debut home goal ended N’Forest’s 23-year wait for EPL victory.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has ended Nottingham Forest’s 23-year Premier League goal drought in his debut match against West Ham United.

Awoniyi scored the only goal against West Ham United at 45+2 minutes, just at the stroke of half-time.
Forest last scored in Premier League on May 16, 1999.

It was Forest’s first home match in the Premier League in 23 years.

EDITOR’S PICK

The Hammers had a first-half goal which was ruled out after the intervention of the Virtual Assistant Referee. Other attempts by West Ham at goal were also not successful.

Dean Henderson, who is one of Forest’s 14 new signings, was the second hero alongside Awoniyi as he (Henderson) saved West Ham’s Declan Rice’s penalty.
Both heroes made their home debuts in the match.
