The market value of Taiwo Awoniyi, the 27-year-old striker for both Nottingham Forest and the Super Eagles, has dropped by €6 million, according to the latest player valuations released on Monday by the football statistics platform Transfermarkt.
Awoniyi’s value has decreased from €28 million to €22 million in just three months, marking a significant decline from his peak value of €30 million in October 2023, following a strong finish to the 2022/23 season.
EDITOR’S PICKS
Earlier this year, his value had already dropped by €2 million in May before the latest €6 million decrease.
This fall is largely attributed to Awoniyi’s recent struggles, having gone 11 consecutive Premier League matches without scoring for Nottingham Forest.
His lack of form has seen him lose his starting spot, with Chris Wood, in better form, now preferred as the team’s main striker.
Despite this downturn, Awoniyi remains focused on regaining his form and contributing to Nottingham Forest’s ambitious Premier League campaign, which includes aspirations for European competition.
Even with the drop in his market value, Awoniyi remains Nottingham Forest’s ninth most valuable player and the sixth most valuable player in the Super Eagles squad.
