Azman Air has temporarily suspended its operations and instructed all staff members to take compulsory leave without pay.
This announcement was confirmed by Nurudeen Aliyu, the airline’s Public Relations Officer, in a statement to Leadership on Monday.
Aliyu explained that the suspension is due to all the airline’s aircraft being under maintenance.
He noted that two aircraft are currently undergoing maintenance, while three others are scheduled for C-checks. The airline expects to resume domestic operations and reinstate staff in October 2024.
“The maintenance requirements and heavy overhead costs have led the management to temporarily halt operations,” Aliyu said.
A circular issued by the Human Resources Manager, Magaji Mohammed Misau, on August 3, 2023, specifies that only eight senior staff members are exempt from the leave without pay.
EKO HOT BLOG stated that The circular, titled ‘Placement of Leave Without Pay,’ stated, “Due to the ongoing maintenance and extended completion timelines, all staff are placed on leave without pay effective August 1, 2023.”
