Popular Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has called on President Bola Tinubu to caution his vice, Kashim Shettima against further attacks on the leader of the British Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch.
Igboho’s call as contained in a statement on Sunday, followed Shettima’s remarks about Badenoch and her view of the country’s leadership.
EKO HOT BLOG recalls that Badenoch had in viral video clips made critical comments on corruption and bad governance in Nigeria.
But, Shettima, while responding to the comments, knocked Badenoch, accusing her of disparaging the country of her origin, Nigeria.
Shettima, who admitted that Badenoch is entitled to her own opinions, said she “has even every right to remove the Kemi from her name”.
Reacting to Shettima’s remark, Igboho urged Tinubu to caution his deputy, saying Shettima should focus on his duty as vice president and leave Badenoch alone.
He said, “It is incumbent on President Bola Tinubu, who is also of Yoruba lineage, to direct Shettima to focus on his duties as vice president rather than engage in a verbal war against Badenoch.
“She merely expressed her candid and truthful opinion on the pervasive corruption in Nigeria’s system.
“Because of my agitation against the destruction of farmlands, killings, and sexual violence by Fulani herders during Buhari’s tenure, security agents, on his orders, stormed my residence on July 1, 2021, killing two people and arresting 13 others.”
