History was made in Epe on January 22nd as the Bado-Isale Descendants hosted their first-ever Ramadan Lecture at Tafsir Mosque, marking a significant milestone for the community.
Ekohotblog gathers that the event, which drew members from far and near, was aimed at deepening faith, encouraging righteous living, and promoting community development during the holy month of Ramadan.
In his welcome address, the President of the Bado-Isale Descendants Association, Associate Professor Nosirudeen Olajide Onibon, expressed gratitude to the descendants for their strong support in making the event a success. He urged Muslims to hold firmly to the values of Ramadan even after the fasting period.
“Let us not return to the bad habits we abandoned during this holy month. Ramadan is a time to cleanse our hearts and draw closer to Allah. The virtues of honesty, patience, and compassion must remain with us beyond this season,” Prof. Onibon said.
He further stressed the importance of unity and urged the community to continue upholding the legacy of faith, love, and brotherhood.
The Social Secretary of the Association, Alhaja Olusola Alade-Raji, raised concerns about declining values among the youth and the need to revive Epe’s Islamic heritage, referencing the popular saying “Epe l’oni Qur’an” (Epe owns the Qur’an).
“If not for Allah’s mercy, that saying might have lost its meaning. We must reclaim our place as people of the Qur’an by living according to its teachings. I encourage our youth to embrace hard work. What you earn through diligence is better than begging,” she said.
Guest lecturers, Sheikh Awesu Saheed and Sheikh Abdullahi Balogun, delivered inspiring sermons on the theme of unwavering faith in Allah, using Prophet Ibrahim (AS) as a shining example of steadfastness and obedience.
“True faith means trusting Allah completely, even in difficult times,” Sheikh Saheed said. “Prophet Ibrahim’s life teaches us that with patience and reliance on Allah, we will always triumph.”
Sheikh Balogun added, “Let us use this Ramadan to renew our commitment to Islam. Stay firm, stay righteous, and keep your hearts tied to the mosque and to the Qur’an.”
