Bandits Ambush Soldiers, Kill Four, Set Patrol Vans Ablaze in Sokoto

Four soldiers were killed, and two others injured in a violent ambush by bandits in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State over the weekend.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the attack occurred along the Kukurau-Bangi road, where the assailants also torched two military patrol vehicles.

According to the Daily Trust, Yahya Gudu, the member representing Gudu at the Sokoto State House of Assembly, confirmed the incident.

“Yes, it is true. Some gunmen ambushed soldiers on patrol along Kukurau-Bangi road on Saturday and killed four of them while two others were injured. They also burnt down their patrol vehicles,” Gudu said.

Gudu, who described the attack as disheartening, stated that he had informed Governor Ahmed Aliyu, leading to the deployment of reinforcements to the area.

A local resident, speaking anonymously, reported seeing the bandits passing through the area on 20 motorcycles.

“Each motorcycle carried two heavily armed bandits. They didn’t harm or abduct anyone in our community. They just passed through, and the next thing we heard was gunfire.

“Later, we discovered they had ambushed the security operatives patrolling the area, killing four of them. Their bodies were later recovered by their colleagues.
