“Bandits Not Terrorists”: Journalist Recalls How Editor Altered His Report

EKO HOT BLOG reports that a Nigerian journalist, Steven Kefas has revealed why the mainstream media in Nigeria can’t call bandits terrorists. 

He recalled how the editor of a reputable media outfit insisted that he substitute the word ‘terrorists’ for ‘bandits’ in his report.

When he asked why, Kefas said that the editor told him that the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) reportedly warned them against doing so.

Kefas lamented that even though ‘terrorists’ allegedly bombed a rail line with the aim of kidnapping people, the media still referred to them as ‘bandits’.
