EKO HOT BLOG reports that the kidnappers of 50 members of the GSM communication Union in Zamfara State have reduced the ransom placed on their victims to 60 million naira as against 145 million naira earlier demanded.
The bandits had on Monday demanded the sum of N145 million naira ransom before the kidnapped victims could be released from their captivity.
When contacted, the chairman of the GSM Communication Union, Gusau Local Government Area, Mr. Mustapha Khalifa confirmed the development, saying that the bandits actually reduced the ransom to 60 million naira.
He explained that the union leadership had been in contact with the kidnappers to ensure that their members regained their freedom.
It was learnt that the kidnapped victims in the bandits’ dens are all youths within the ages of 20 and 40, abducted at Dogon Awo, a village bordering Sokoto and Zamfara States, on Saturday evening, while returning from a wedding ceremony in Sokoto State.

However, twenty of the phone sellers and repairers narrowly escaped from the bandits.
The local vigilante group, popularly known as “Yansakai” also chased the bandits to their hideouts on Saturday evening and rescued seven of the kidnapped victims in the forests.
