Banks, Airports, Others Disrupted over Global IT Outage

Airlines in Singapore, the United States, and Australia have experienced significant disruptions due to a major global cyber outage affecting services.

The extensive information technology (IT) outage, which began early Friday, also impacted banks and media outlets.

International media reported that several airports and airlines faced IT system issues as the outages spread.

In the UK, Govia Thameslink Railway’s four brands – Southern, Thameslink, Gatwick Express, and Great Northern – experienced widespread IT failures, affecting their services.

Australia’s telecommunications company Telstra Group also reported disruptions.

Sky News briefly went off air in the UK due to the outages, leaving viewers without access to its broadcast.

An on-screen message on Friday morning, apologising for the interruption, read, “We apologise for the interruption to this broadcast. We hope to restore the transmission of Sky News shortly.”
