EKO HOT BLOG reports that Pedri opened the scoring for Barcelona in the first half, finishing precisely after a superb build-up involving Lamine Yamal. Real Madrid responded strongly after the break, with Kylian Mbappe firing in a free-kick to equalize before Aurelien Tchouameni headed them into the lead minutes later.
However, Barcelona fought back. Ferran Torres capitalized on a clever ball from Yamal in the 84th minute, sending the match into extra time. In a tense additional period, Kounde intercepted a loose Luka Modric pass and fired home from distance, sparking jubilant celebrations among the Blaugrana players and fans.
Madrid’s frustration boiled over in the final moments as Antonio Rudiger and Lucas Vázquez were both sent off for misconduct.
“It’s a beautiful moment for the fans, but we must stay focused with the Champions League ahead,” Torres told La 1, as Barcelona prepare to host Inter Milan midweek.
Despite Real Madrid’s efforts, including Mbappe and Vinicius Junior leading waves of attacks, Barcelona’s control and composure ultimately proved decisive. Refereeing controversies also punctuated the match, with VAR overturning a late Barcelona penalty claim.
Madrid, already rattled by pre-match tensions with officials, now face a daunting La Liga clash against Barcelona next month, a fixture that could determine the league title.
Flick, who has now won all seven finals he has coached, praised his team’s resilience: “Today they can celebrate. From tomorrow, we focus again.”
