Barcelona Eye Xavi As Koeman’s Replacement
- Xavi and Roberto Martinez seem to be the early favorites to replace Koeman…
Xavi Hernandez has been strongly linked with replacing Ronald Koeman if Barcelona opt to part ways with the Dutch coach.
The Catalan, who made a total of 767 appearances for Barcelona during his playing days, is seen as having all of the requirements to take charge at the Camp Nou: he has Barcelona DNA; his style of play is similar to Pep Guardiola’s glory years; he is a legend at the club; he is popular amongst the supporters; he understands the club; he has experience as a coach with Al Sadd; and he has a good relationship with the sporting director, Jordi Cruyff.

His former teammate, Andres Iniesta has also been talking about the prospect of Xavi taking over from Ronald Koeman at Barcelona and thinks his old friend is up for the challenge.
Iniesta was asked if he thinks Xavi is ready to head back to the Camp Nou and thinks it could now be the right time.
“I think so, yes. If you ask me if I imagine Xavi on the Barca bench. Above all because he’s been preparing and training to coach Barca. He has the confidence to take on this challenge.”
Xavi and Roberto Martinez seem to be the early favorites to replace Koeman with reports claiming the Dutchman won’t be fired until a replacement has been found.
