Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have been granted provisional approval to play for Barcelona after the Spanish National Sports Council (CSD) allowed the club to register the two players.
Eko Hot Blog had initially reported that the summer signings were initially only registered for the first half of the season due to Barcelona’s inability to meet La Liga’s wage cap restrictions.
While the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and La Liga rejected Barcelona’s request to register them on Saturday, the CSD intervened on Wednesday after the club appealed, providing temporary clearance for the duo to play.

Olmo, 26, and Victor, 23, will be available for selection until the CSD delivers a final decision on Barcelona’s dispute with La Liga and RFEF.
“This measure, which is provisional until the appeal filed by the club and the aforementioned players is finally resolved, suspends [La Liga and RFEF’s decision], and the cancellation of the sports licenses of the aforementioned players,” the CSD said in a statement.
“It also maintains the validity of said licences until this appeal is finally resolved.”
La Liga was informed of the CSD resolution on Wednesday afternoon but is still waiting on further clarification over the details.
“The resolution was adopted without having forwarded the appeal to La Liga or the RFEF, nor granting either party the opportunity to submit their arguments. Therefore, La Liga is currently unaware of the reasoning set forth by the players and FC Barcelona in the appeal,” La Liga stated.
“La Liga will thoroughly review the content of the decision with a view to filing the appropriate appeals, while also expressing its complete disagreement with the decision.”
The move came too late for Dani Olmo and Pau Victor to be eligible for selection in Wednesday’s Spanish Supercopa semi-final against Athletic Club in Saudi Arabia. However, following Barcelona’s 2-0 victory, both players will be available for Sunday’s final against either Real Madrid or Mallorca.
Olmo, a £51 million summer signing from RB Leipzig, was registered as a special exemption for the first half of the season due to Barcelona’s financial difficulties, which prevented them from meeting La Liga’s strict wage cap rules.
Earlier, the club’s requests to register the duo had been rejected by two courts. To comply with La Liga’s financial fair play regulations, Barcelona reportedly sold VIP boxes for their new stadium, still under construction, for €100 million (£83.42 million).
Despite this, the paperwork was submitted three days past La Liga’s deadline. La Liga confirmed that Barcelona met the financial requirements, but regulations prevent players from obtaining a second licence at the same club in the same season.
Barcelona contended that the rule was outdated and, with funds now available during the open transfer window, the duo should be able to be registered.
