EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Chief Imam of Beli, Liman Musa Abubakar, confirmed Inuwa’s death, describing it as a great loss to the entire people of Northern Nigeria. The traditional ruler’s passing has left a significant void in the region’s leadership.
In an interview with Daily Trust during his lifetime, the late monarch shared details of his long reign. He revealed that his grandfather served as village head of Beli for 12 years, followed by his father, who ruled for 17 years.
Inuwa was appointed to the throne at the age of 19 in 1933 by the Emir of Katagum, Abdulqadir. Reflecting on his life, he noted that he was born around 1912 or 1913.
Throughout his reign, Inuwa served under four different first-class Emirs of Katagum. He lived with Emir Abdulqadir for 12 years before his passing, then served under Emir Umaru Faruqu for 35 years.
After Emir Faruqu’s death, he was under the leadership of Emir Muhammadu Kabiru for 38 years, and more recently, under the current Emir, Umaru Faruq II, for the past six years.
Inuwa expressed pride in his long service, saying, “I am almost 91 years old on the throne. Alhamdulillahi, we live in peace with the people.” He also spoke of his family, sharing that he had 11 children, seven of whom are still alive.
