Ahead of the Saturday gubernatorial poll in Bayelsa state, the leadership of the police force has approved the deployment of 31,000 of its personnel to provide security in the election.
The police force also cautioned politicians and political thugs against inciting any form of violence. Adding that, the politicians should respect the peace accord they signed.
The Police Command in Bayelsa State disclosed this through its spokesperson, Asnim Butswat, on Friday.
He stressed that the command was ready to provide adequate security for the poll adding that, adequate security measures was already in place to achieve a peaceful election in the state.
Butswat also announced the restriction of vehicular movement as well as persons from 12 midnight to 7pm on Saturday.
He said “Political parties and their supporters are hereby warned to desist from engaging in any act of violence capable of disrupting the poll.
“They are further advised to abide by the Peace Accord they earlier signed and to cooperate with security agencies.
“Security agencies have been ordered to enforce the restriction of movement both on land and on waterways, as from 12 midnight of November 15 to 7 pm of November 17, 2019.
“Movement of persons, vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles will be restricted as from 12 midnight of Nov. 15 to the end of the voting.
