EKO HOT BLOG reports that Sergino Dest is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich over a possible move in next summer’s transfer window.
The USMNT international has been deemed surplus to requirement by Barcelona.
Sergino Dest joined Barcelona from Ajax in October 2020 and enjoyed a decent maiden campaign at Camp Nou.
And while the 21-year-old has produced several game-changing performances in the ongoing campaign, his stature has declined since the appointment of Xavi Hernandez as the new manager.
To date, the USMNT international has made 57 appearances for Barcelona, chipping in with three goals and four assists along the way.
However, Dest’s time at Barcelona seems to be approaching its end, and he could be on his way out of the club, either in January or next summer. Such a situation has piqued the attention of Bayern Munich.
The interest from Bayern Munich is understandable, considering Benjamin Pavard has blown hot and cold this season.
Even when the French international has delivered the goods, he does not carry a lot of threat in the final third, which is why the German giants have turned their attention towards Dest.
However, Bayern Munich will only make their move for Dest in next summer’s transfer window.
And it is not certain that the 21-year-old defender will last at Barcelona beyond the January transfer window, with several other big-name clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United, heavily linked with him.
However, recent reports have claimed that Dest is keen on joining Bayern Munich, which gives the Bundesliga champions a promising chance to secure his services next summer.
Nonetheless, if Barcelona’s desire is to cash in on Dest this winter, then Bayern could be put in a spot of bother.
So, six excruciating months could beckon Bayern Munich as they look to secure the services of the former Ajax defender.
For now, all that appears to be certain is that Barcelona will look to sell Dest as soon as possible, with Xavi Hernandez not taking a fancy to him.
