Reports from all 44 local government areas indicated that festivities unfolded peacefully, devoid of any disturbances or conflicts.
Concerns had arisen about potential disruptions to the Sallah celebrations due to the unresolved emirship dispute in the state.
Earlier in the week, the state police command intervened by prohibiting the Kano Durbar following conflicting requests from Emir Muhammad Sanusi and deposed Emir Ado Bayero regarding security arrangements.
The ongoing royal crisis stemmed from Emir Sanusi’s reinstatement as the 16th Emir of Kano, following legislative changes to the Kano Emirate Law on May 23, 2024, by Governor Abba Yusuf.
During the Eid prayers, Emir Sanusi emphasized the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, particularly the importance of assisting the less fortunate during Eid-al-Adha celebrations.
Residents expressed relief that the celebrations proceeded without incident, with Alhaji Mohammad Abubakar from Tauroni Local Government praising the peaceful conduct of prayers and commending security agencies for maintaining order.
While acknowledging the successful Sallah festivities, Alhaji Isa Musa from the Charanchi area advocated for a sustained security presence beyond the celebrations to ensure continued peace.
